Adiabatic waveforms for extreme mass-ratio inspirals via multivoice decomposition in time and frequency

چکیده

We compute adiabatic waveforms for extreme mass-ratio inspirals (EMRIs) by ``stitching'' together a long inspiral waveform from sequence of snapshots, each which corresponds to particular geodesic orbit. show that the complicated total can be regarded as sum ``voices.'' Each voice evolves in simple way on timescales, property exploited efficiently produce models faithfully encode properties EMRI systems. look at examples range different orbital geometries: spherical orbits, equatorial eccentric and one example generic (inclined eccentric) orbits. To our knowledge, this is first calculation uses strong-field radiation reaction. examine both time frequency domains. Although EMRIs evolve slowly enough stationary phase approximation (SPA) Fourier transform valid, SPA must done higher order some voices, since their instantaneous change chirping forward ($\stackrel{\ifmmode \dot{}\else \textperiodcentered \fi{}}{f}>0$) backward \fi{}}{f}<0$). The approach we develop eventually extended more complete models---for example, include effects neglected approximation, such conservative self-force spin-curvature coupling.

Detection Strategies for Extreme Mass Ratio Inspirals

The capture of compact stellar remnants by galactic black holes provides a unique laboratory for exploring the near horizon geometry of the Kerr spacetime. The gravitational radiation produced by these Extreme Mass Ratio Inspirals (EMRIs) encodes a detailed map of the black hole geometry, and the detection and characterization of these signals is a major science driver for the LISA observatory....

Strategies for observing extreme mass ratio inspirals

I review the status of research, conducted by a variety of independent groups, aimed at the eventual observation of Extreme Mass Ratio Inspirals (EMRIs) with gravitational wave detectors. EMRIs are binary systems in which one of the objects is much more massive than the other, and which are in a state of dynamical evolution that is dominated by the effects of gravitational radiation. Although t...

Null Infinity Waveforms from Extreme-Mass-Ratio Inspirals in Kerr Spacetime

We describe the hyperboloidal compactification for Teukolsky equations in Kerr spacetime. We include null infinity on the numerical grid by attaching a hyperboloidal layer to a compact domain surrounding the rotating black hole and the orbit of an inspiralling point particle. This technique allows us to study, for the first time, gravitational waveforms from largeand extreme-mass-ratio inspiral...
